"On Tuesday night, Greg Duncan of Dunn Loring, with partner Tyler Downs, became the first NVSL diver since Matt Scoggin of Great Falls to make an Olympic team.
Grayson Campbell of Vienna Woods and Nathaniel Grannis of Wakefield Chapel placed third and sixth among the talented and accomplished teams in this spectacular event. Grayson's coach, John Appleman of Commonwealth, who also coached Greg as a child, watched from the deck, along with David Boudia and Adam Soldati of Purdue, Greg's college coaches and Nathaniel's future coaches.
A rising senior at Woodson, Nathaniel will be around the NVSL for another year so we can all watch that perfect technique as he pursues his own Olympic dream. Cheering the divers on (since he wasn't coaching) was Matt Scoggin, Grayson's college coach at Texas, who finished tenth in men's platform in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona on the day of our 1992 All-Star meet. On Monday, Anne Fowler of Walden Glen and her teammate, Caroline Sculti, finished fifth in synchronized three meter. NVSL represents! Way to keep it going, divers.
Tune in to NBC and Peacock to watch these divers compete in individual events throughout the week. You can find the complete schedule here:
