Job Title Head Dive Coach
Job Description
The Dominion Hills Thunderducks Dive Team is looking for a Head Coach for the 2026 summer season. In 2026, the Thunderducks are competing in Division 4 with approximately 60 divers, ages 6 and up, ranging from beginners to year-round divers.
The Thunderducks are looking for an energetic and positive team leader who will support our objectives to:

- Provide a safe and fun learning environment.
- Nurture each team members’ diving skills and passion for the sport.
- Offer positive feedback to all divers, regardless of skill level.
- Maintain our strong team spirit and prioritize good sportsmanship over winning.

Duties and responsibilities include:
- Plan and lead practices.
- Develop athletes’ ability to perform fundamental dives, set goals, and track divers’ progress.
- Provide positive and constructive feedback that helps divers build confidence, improve technique, and develop a love for the sport.
- Demonstrate proper diving techniques and promote safe practice habits.
- Manage the coaching staff, typically 3-4 assistant coaches and 1-2 junior coaches.
- Support team morale through attendance and participation in team social events such as the lip synch and team banquet.
- Prepare for, attend, and coach all dual meets, the Cracker Jack Meet, Divisional Dive Championships, the NVSL All-Star Championship Meet, and any mutually agreed upon developmental (“B”) or other meets, such as the Wally Martin 3M Dive Meet and Synchro 1M Meet.

Practices are scheduled:
- Monday through Thursday evenings from late May until mid-June (when Arlington County Public Schools are in session), and
- Monday through Friday mornings from mid-June until the first week of August.

Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience coaching youth diving.
- Strong knowledge of diving techniques (such as high school, summer league, competitive club, or college diving experience).
- Ability to work positively with athletes of all skill levels.
- Leadership and team-building skills to support assistant and junior coaches.
- Availability for summer practices, meets, and team events.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and/or Lifeguard certification (or willingness to obtain).
